Alex Pearson, our Director

We asked Alex Pearson about her approach to directing.

It starts with the basic text with no preconceptions, taking the words as fact without putting anything on top of them.  I then read it again, asking myself : what makes each character tick, what is their goal, what do they want from each other, what do they want to achieve by the end of the play and do they succeed.

The next step is research. Since this play is based on real people and real life events, I want to know about the period in which these two women lived. With all this homework done, it is then time to work my actors to create world of the play, providing them with guidance and an open and safe space where we can fail and succeed together in telling our story.
