Back Stage
Across the Square is a two-person show, set in the living room of Millicent Fawcett’s house in Gower Street, December 1917.
Performance area
This is an intimate show, ideal for a small to medium auditorium.
Minimum area 6m wide x 3m deep x 2m high playing space.
The Set
The set consists of :
Two tables, one centre stage, one side stage.
Two chairs either side of central table. Two window frames upstage, with material hanging from them.
Set needed
Alex Pearson Productions is committed to sustainable, environmentally attentive touring. The less we carry with us the lighter the carbon load.
Please let us know if you can supply:-

Two small tables; one at least 70cm square, the other smaller, around 30cm diameter.

Two chairs.
All ideally wooden; if not, we can provide, table cloths and chair coverings.
Props
We shall provide all the limited props for the production, viz:

a tray with a decanter and two glasses;
-
a small pile of books;
-
a hand mirror;
-
Christmas cards;
-
two candles sticks with candles (which are are never lit);
-
small flower decorations;
-
some knitting;
-
a small sewing box.
Lighting requirements
Venue dependent, but very straightforward. Enough to light the space for an interior setting, cues are to tighten the light around the table and to make it look as though time has passed.
We can provide a cue script.
Sound
A PA sound system with the ability to connect to our Mac laptop as all our sound effects are run off QLab.
Sound cues consist of:

Pre-show music: Four pieces of music by Ethel Smyth

Three doorbells played at the start of the show

Post-show music: For your King and Country from the soundtrack album Oh! What a Lovely War.
Get in and set up
Ideally three hours for a Get In with 45 minutes for the Get Out.
